Before photographing the places where I feel in communion with Pierre Loti, I drew them (in pencil or calamo). In the workshop, I transferred their tracings, as they are or at different scales, on rag paper, smooth or grainy. Then, on these prints, I applied silk or tofu papers, inked differently in the shades that suited me (blues and browns above all), crumpled differently, pleated, soaked and pressed, like many skins, until the ideal image emerged. Finally, to these matrices, I added significant elements of the universe recreated with the silhouette of Loti in the tower, the boat or the horse. I have made multiple variants inspired by the same place, playing with textures, bringing in other techniques (pastel painting, grid, watercolor...) or mentioning literary works. These monotypes are the result of a " recollection " that merges into the photographs.

Tintas de Jean-Louis Marçot

Antes de fotografiar los lugares donde me siento en comunión con Pierre Loti, los dibujé (a lápiz o a cálamo). En el taller, transmití sus trazados, tal cual o a diferentes escalas, en papeles de trapo, lisos o granulados. Luego, en estas huellas, apliqué papeles de seda o tofu, entintados de manera diferente en las tonalidades que me convenían (azules y marrones sobre todo), arrugados de manera diferente, plisados, empapados y prensados, como muchas pieles, hasta que surgió la imagen ideal. Finalmente, a estas matrices, he añadido elementos significativos del universo recreado con la silueta de Loti en la torre, la barca o el caballo. He realizado múltiples variantes inspiradas en un mismo lugar jugando con las texturas, aportando otras técnicas (pintura al pastel, cuadrícula, acuarela…) o mencionando obras literarias. Estos monotipos son el resultado de un « recogimiento » que se funde en las fotografías.
