portrait de Ainize Txopitea

Ainize Txopitea is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in her natural Basque environment. Born in 1977 in Donostia-San Sebastián, from an early age she develops a special sensitivity for the elements that surround her, which she transcribes in her work using media such as collage, photography, plastic arts, and audiovisual supports. Her approach stands out for following an aesthetic line of emotional and conceptual depth, where poetry and visuals are integrated, seeking to create a connection between the human being and nature.
Ainize graduated in Digital Media Production at the University of the Arts in London, 2002, where she perfected her technique and developed her own conceptual language. Her early exhibitions highlight an aesthetic focused on the search for the essence of things. Rather than reproducing nature, Ainize tries to capture its spirit and presence through refined works, often breaking down her inner world, in contrast to her social concerns in a harmonious way and in convergence with her rupturist vocation.

Her work is fueled by a reflection on the relationship between the natural and the artificial, the ephemeral and the permanent. Ainize explores natural cycles, the transformation of the elements and the way in which humanity interacts with its environment. Her art is marked by a balance between the raw materiality of the elements she uses and the meditative aspect she wishes to provoke in the viewer.

Throughout her exhibitions, Ainize has acquired an international reputation, with works presented both in Spain and France, standing out in important exhibitions such as "Silhouettes, têtes et visages: l'art du portrait au Pays Basque" (2023) in Saint Jean de Luz, France, Airean. Kur Art Gallery, Donostia-San Sebastián (2022) Arts in Places NWFG Itinerant Exhibition (2021): II Mostra Internacional de Artes. II Encontra Brasil-Portugal. Circle of Art and Recreation. Guimarães, Portugal. Espacio Gallery Bethnal Green London, England. G3 PopUp Gallery Brussels, Belgium. Cork City Library, Ireland. Her participation in collective projects such as Baginen Bagara. Women Artists: Logics of (IN)visibility. San Telmo Museum, Donostia-San Sebastián. o Environment, Encounter, Exploration. Museo Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona (2021), showing the evolution of her artistic approach.

In addition to her work as an artist, Ainize Txopitea is active in cross-border projects that seek to connect Basque artists from both sides of the border. This dimension of cultural and artistic exchange is essential to her career, and she strives to create a dialogue between Basque cultures while opening new spaces for reflection on contemporary art.

Today, Ainize continues to develop her work by exploring new materials and deepening her reflection on the interaction between the human and natural worlds.
